The Farmers' Valley Cemetery, founded in 1876 on land donated by John Brown, is the final resting place of many pioneers of Hamilton County. On three sides winds the Big Blue River, along whose banks the first settlers in the county built their soddies and log houses.
Among the historic graves here are those of nine Civil War veterans: Marion Littlefield, killed by Indians at Pebble Creek; Mary Kaily and her child, frozen in the 1873 Easter Blizzard; and Perry Reed, Nebraska State Senator.
Directions: From Henderson, Ne. Head south on 17th Street/Road B, which will become Road 1 at the county line (curve) and then will become Road 325 at the following County line (same road) for two more miles; turn Right on South Y Road for about 1 1/2 miles Then you will turn Left on (a dirt/field road) Farmer Valley Road drive for 1 1/2 miles. There was a Town located there at once with a Church, School, and Saw Mill, so the legend goes.
