The graves were removed in August 1950. The remains of these graves were put up for bids by the Bureau of Reclamation, Canyon Ferry Unit, Canyon Ferry, Montana. A coroner from Havre, Emil Ellison, was in charge of moving the graves, markers, and tombstones. This removal of the graves was necessary due to the Canyon Ferry Reservoir filling in 1952. The graves were relocated to Forestvale, the IOOF Cemetery near Helena, Montana, and the Winston Cemetery (formerly Placer Cemetery) near Winston, Montana.
